A plover's nest

The 'masked lapwing' or 'plover'.

The eggs of the Masked lapwing or plover. Pairs guard their nest fending off potential attackers. It's not uncommon to see them nesting on grassed lawns as they did here in our backyard. We would go out with umbrellas to stop them from getting us with the sharp spur on the back of their feet. They even went for the dog.
